They are “tight like unto a dish”! No leaks here!
Basically the Dinner Rolls recipe, except you divide the dough into fourths, shape them into round mounds, egg wash them before the second rise. More instructions follow.- 2 ½ C flour
- ¼ C sugar
- ¼ C powdered milk
- 1 t salt
- 1 T yeast
- 1 ½ C water, very warm
- ¼ C butter (softened)
- 1 egg
In a stand mixer place 1 cup flour, sugar, powdered milk, salt. Mix well before adding yeast. Add warm water slowly, mixing well. Add butter and egg, then blend in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough (not sticky) (this may take a little more than 2 ½ cups). Let rise until double, about 1 ½ hours. Punch down and shape as desired rise 20-30 minutes. Bake 10-15 minutes at 420 degrees F. Let set for 30 minutes before cutting the top off and plucking out the insides. Press the sides and bottom of the bowl for additional reinforcement. Bake at 350 for 10 more minutes or until bowls are crusty.
