Pizza Dough

  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 T yeast
  • 1 c water
  • 1 egg
  • 4 T butter
  • 4 flour

Soften yeast in 1 cup of very warm water. Place sugar and salt in a bowl; melt butter and add to bowl and begin mixing. Add egg and continue mixing; add yeast and water and continue. Add 3 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing continuously. Add the last cup of flour a little at a time; stop adding flour when the dough cleans the sides of the bowl and forms a ball. Continue kneading for a total of 8-10 minutes. Turn on the oven (any temperature) for 1 minute, then turn off the heat and turn on the light. Place the dough in a greased ovenproof bowl (metal, glass, or ceramic) and let it rise in the warm oven for 1 hour. Punch down and cut into 2 pieces. Let dough rest for 5-10 minutes to ease the shaping. Then stretch and pat each piece of dough onto a greased pizza pan or cookie sheet. Put the goods on. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12-13 minutes or until done.

Caramel Rolls

  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 (6-ounce) package vanilla pudding mix (not instant)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup chopped nuts

Pour 2/3 of this mixture over the dough pieces in pan. Tear second portion of dough into pan to fill in empty spots. Pour remaining sauce over dough pieces; sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. (Use remaining portion of dough to make dinner rolls) Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise in warm place until doubled in size, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool 10 minutes, then invert onto large platter. Serves 8 to 10.

Jaredite Bread Bowls

They are “tight like unto a dish”! No leaks here!
Basically the Dinner Rolls recipe, except you divide the dough into fourths, shape them into round mounds, egg wash them before the second rise. More instructions follow.

  • 2 ½ C flour
  • ¼ C sugar
  • ¼ C powdered milk
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 T yeast
  • 1 ½ C water, very warm
  • ¼ C butter (softened)
  • 1 egg

In a stand mixer place 1 cup flour, sugar, powdered milk, salt. Mix well before adding yeast. Add warm water slowly, mixing well. Add butter and egg, then blend in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough (not sticky) (this may take a little more than 2 ½ cups). Let rise until double, about 1 ½ hours. Punch down and shape as desired rise 20-30 minutes. Bake 10-15 minutes at 420 degrees F. Let set for 30 minutes before cutting the top off and plucking out the insides. Press the sides and bottom of the bowl for additional reinforcement. Bake at 350 for 10 more minutes or until bowls are crusty.

Biscuits

What You Need:
2 cups of flour
2 t baking powder
1 t salt
4 T mayo
1 cup of milk

DIRECTIONS:
Mix dey ingredents then cut in mayo. Add milk and mix until dough is formed. The dough should be slightly sticky.
Form 12 balls from dough, place balls into a greased muffin pan.
Bake at 450 for 8-10 mintues.

TIP: Mayo is fairly expensive, there are other recipes that just use oil. Whatever baking powder biscuit recipe you use try a muffin pan! It keeps the biscuits soft and they don't end up flat!
